Well, I suppose I should start with my name. The name's Spencer and its a pleasure to make your aquaintance. I'm an all-around happy person. What can I say? I love being alive. I enjoy experiencing new things and sharing moments with friends. I believe the human race to be better than what the media portrays. People have the ability to surprise and to astound, and that's why I have faith. I deeply love my family and friends. They have helped to mold the man I am today. I love going out, soaking up sunshine and being with friends, but I am also more than content with spending time with a good book or a good video game. But a cold beer with friends trumps them all. Usually.

Though, don't think that I'm some hippie. I mean, I guess that I'm hippier than some but I enjoy showers and personal hygiene in general.

I also like to pretend to be a bad ass mother fucker but I'm really not. I just like to threaten people with the oh-so inevitable fate of being punched in the throat. I also like to sprinkle conversations with odd witicisms. You would think this would be at odds with my otherwise caring demeanor but you would be wrong. How does that make you feel? Punk-ass bitch.

I also love tattoos and I run a lot. Also, I just moved to Boulder to live with my english grad student best friend for life. So I know relatively nobody and I haven't the slightest idea how to navigate this place. But there are mountains! That makes up for everything else.

However, I'm a bit wary about my fondness of running and becoming accustomed to the altitude of the mountains. I'm from the flat, almost sea level lands of Illinois. So if you see me passed out on a street corner due to the lack of oxygen in my blood, take pity and resist the urge to run over, bike over, or step on my head. I'm interested endlessly evolving. I love to learn, teach, and listen. I'm a database for an eclectic array of interconnected information. I look for patterns, and meta patterns, it seems like any phenomenon is an example of some underlying pattern(s), and that its all pointing at some unified idea - so I'm trying to figure that one out too.

I strive to be honest, accurate, and non-dogmatic. I'm probably at least somewhat interested in the things you are interested in. I want to connect with interesting people.

I hate trying to describe myself in a paragraph. I mean really, what the hell are we supposed to say here? Have our lives become so complicated that we don't have enough time to actually socialize anymore? That everything is reduced to filling out some sort of form, or info box with their perception of how other people see them. So,I am going to do my best to give you my perception on how I think people see me.

I am a very active individual and do some sort of physical activity on a daily basis. I am an avid snowboarder and would definitely like you to be the same, or at least be willing to give it a try. I am outgoing, outspoken and definitely been known to speak my mind, sometimes at the wrong time, but always entertaining.

I can be a bit sarcastic at times, so a sense of humor is a must. I have just moved to the area from Los Angeles and looking for people to hang out with and then see where it goes from there. I am into a variety of music from hard rock to obscure electronica. I enjoy doing anything outdoor and would like to meet someone else who does as well. I'm also a bona fide food snob. I spend way too much time working, but I love what I do and still manage to keep myself amused both at work and at play. I can be very happy either watching the snow from some place warm, or playing in it, and have been known to make naked snow angels. I'm a recovering smoker (nasty stuff) and am working to get my aerobic abilities back to where they should be. I like travelling and lean towards places with beaches, palm trees, pelicans and roller-coasters.

What can I say here that will be really cool and amazing for all of you? I could tell you that when I was very young I would look at the night sky and wonder what was in between the stars. Most people see the stars and never look past them, but it seemed obvious to me that there was a lot more. A few years ago they focused the Hubble telescope on a tiny piece of darkness about one centimeter square and they were able to identify over 1,500 Galaxies. GALAXIES! Not just stars, galaxies, and the shapes, the colors, and sizes were more than anyone ever imagined. That is the kind of thing that I just love knowing. No matter how mundane and boring life gets we are surrounded, every second, by the deepest most beautiful mystery.

I grew up all over the earth as a navy kid. Then spent quite a few more years roaming before moving to Boulder and I love it here. My life is sometimes and adventure sometimes not but I always stay focused on the positive and look for creative ways to share my gifts.

I married my high school sweetheart, <<sensuous_libra>>, and we have been happy ever since. Not monogamous, ie polyamourous, and very happy. We both have other relationships, crazy I know. My longest-term rant: I've seen too many people grow old before their time from deciding they have reached an age where they are "all grown up." I am not that person, and I have no intention of ever being that person. Learning, growing, and just plain enjoying life is too fun to give it up until it's torn from my grasp.

I am a self-proclaimed nerd and/or geek. I love science fiction, written and visual. I love reading it, watching it, and writing it. I have created several different sci-fi universes, with detailed descriptions of people, events, cultures, societies, militaries, and governments. I was an anthropology major in college, so I spend most of my time building cultures and histories, rather than creating characters or technologies.

I am very religious - I was born Episcopalian, and being a part of the Episcopal Church is a huge part of my identity. It informs my politics, my philosophy, and my view on the world. I believe in equal rights for all people, that homosexuality is a natural part of the human condition, that women have the right to control their own bodies, and that the Republican party and the Religious Right are about as far from the Gospel as you can possibly imagine.

So I am a twenty-six year old male. About 5' 10" Hwp. Brown hair and brown eyes. I like a lot of things, have a lot of interests. I love being in Boulder, I'm trying not to use my car, and use my bike more. I've been in CO for over a year, and I think its great out here. Just browsing around. I'm trying ever so hard to see if I can express my artistic side. For some reason I can't seem to eek out my artistic talent. I'm not willing to accept that I have none. After going to a hundred museums, seeing a bazillion plays, movies, and concerts it seems to stay hidden. Ah, but I'll try. My latest is photography and I'll keep at it until I have a broken shutter button. I'm trying to learn guitar again. I played when I was a kid so it's like I'm starting all over again.

I like trying new things. Hey there!

First and foremost, I love Ultimate Frisbee - playing, coaching, and supporting my teammates (I had ACL surgery and was out for much of this past season). Ultimate allows me to develop and expand a network of friends across the country and globe. I appreciate what the sport stands for and the athleticism it demands! *sigh - I'm a jock...fact.

When not playing Ultimate, I enjoy taking pictures with my D80, which I am still learning a lot about. Some of my favorite subjects are animals, especially dogs, and my friends don't seem to mind the piles of pictures I take of their four-legged kids. I also love taking my camera outdoors (some of my best shots are from a Mountain Biking weekend in Moab - AMAZING! - and I don't think I did so bad for it being my first time!)

Currently, I am a graduate student, but once I'm done with school, I look forward to teaching (Middle or High School Math) and being able to hook my students into the material, and school in general, by making the subject matter relevant to their lives.

Outside of work/school, while I am most comfortable in athletic gear, I do like getting dressed up on occassion...maybe even a lil' eye shadow! ;-)

All in all, I love having fun, laughing, being outdoors and being active, but with a balance of some quieter activities. I am looking for someone who wants to hang out, meet new people, and have a good time! Definitely need someone who is educated and active. I like a challenge - bring it on! =)

I live by 2 rules. 1) Make good on your word. Be where you say you're gonna be and when, or at least call ahead. 2) Be brutally honest. We look for the things that tell us WHO a woman is. I don't have a job right now, I just don't like working or dealing with money, so I try to find more creative ways to live. Though the more I explore the world and my own inner space, culinary school sounds more and more appealing.

I love being outdoors, even when it is cold. I get stir crazy if I stay indoors, even for just a day. I've got to go walking, hiking, slack-lining, rock climbing, swimming, or just tanning in the sun everyday.

I love concerts, especially STS9, they put on such amazing shows every time, not to mention, the drugs there are superb! Though I wouldn't describe myself as a druggie. More a spiritual and recreational tripper, I love psychedelics, especially mushrooms, and pakalolo.

Spirituality, let's talk about it. I would say that the closest spiritual philosophy to my own is Zen. But to say I follow it would be to misunderstand the philosophy of Zen. I just pay attention to my immediate experience and try to make sense of it through the filters I have developed through prior personal experience. Basically I take no ones word on anything that pertains to what cannot be expressed in words. Mushrooms make me feel the interconnectedness that I usually fail to see or express.

OK. So I have decided to go ahead and take the plunge and try this whole interwebs dating thing. I should start off by saying that I am actually looking for a relationship. I am over dating for sport, and while I like to go out on occasion I tend to go out to enjoy time with friends. I don't go out to try and pick up women. That being said, I'm not one to dive head first into a relationship. I'm not looking to get married and have babies tomorrow or anything. Basically, I am looking for someone who enjoys having a good time and laughing. A lot. Whatever else happens, happens.

I have a job that I am passionate about, but it doesn't define me. I take pride in keeping myself separate from what I do. That includes hobbies. I like things, but I am not those things. If that makes sense to you, then we might be compatible.
I am looking for a long-term relationship, but I don't have to have one. In other words, I would rather not be in a relationship at all, than to be in a bad one.
I will never, ever, ever, ever use acronyms such as (and this pains me to even type) LOL. I dislike that sort of crap. I do like text messages for some reason though. I am full of such contradictions.
That leads right into my next point. I am an adult. I communicate like one with friends and in relationships. I am open, and expect the same. As adults I think people are allowed to disagree without being bastards. My feelings aren't hurt easily. As a general rule I also acknowledge when I am wrong. It might not be right away, but given time to think about things if I'm wrong about something I own it. Fortunately, I am not wrong all that frequently. (Joking)
Which also leads to the fact that I am very comfortable in my own skin. I'm not perfect, but I like who I am. I realize that some may not be attracted to me, or may not even like me. I am OK with that.
I am active and love doing anything outside. Especially if I am sharing that time outside with someone I care about.
I am very laid back and have a tendency to be a little goofy on occasion. I think those are fine qualities.

I'm a Northern Californian finishing up my environmental engineering doctorate in Colorado. The last five years living here has been great. I am thoroughly impressed with the variety of scenes in Denver and Boulder. I think of myself as a discriminating appreciator of the best that human experience can offer. Thus, the range of experiences which makes me happy/excited is diverse. I don't typically rely on others rules for guidance, leading to problems as well as unusually experience. Similarly, I don't feel that I fit into any box too well, but people seem to try to "catalog" me based on the context that they know me. I believe that I'm somewhat complex, and thus have the luxury of being naturally completely open while maintaining some enigmatic qualities. I'm a meteorologist and musician. By musician, I mean I've played piano my whole life (classical and jazz training) and I compose (have a degree in composition in addition to an M.S. in meteorology). I have a ton of performance experience and am always happy when at the keys.

i am pretty self conscious person. my mother has a noticeably rare disease and grew up in a disfunctional family. her disease didnt allow her the same opportunities as others and manifested as self consciousness, pretty strong desires, and fierce competition in her kids; ever wonder how starving artists are born? i'm socially awkward and quiet but my only wish sometimes when making friends or meeting new people is to be liked and for people to understand how a person is shaped by the life i've lived so far, which has been a strong effort to become something successful in my endeavors considering a mediocre education and limited resources. my general self summary is that my artistic expressions are the beautiful pictures, the higher self- esteem, and emotional happiness in which my awesome mom found.

I recently moved from the south to Boulder and absolutely love it here! People ask why I made the move, and my answer is "for the adventure!" As far as sexuality goes, i hate having to label myself (on this site it doesn't give you much of a choice, you are one of the three, either straight, bi, or gay)...Honestly I believe that sexuality is all on one huge spectrum. I would say that some of the most important qualities i try to manifest in myself and seek in others is intentionality and authenticity.
