This is a great school with amazing teachers, administration and parent involvement. I feel like they really ensure the kids are where they need to be and provide services for kids who need more help, more challenges. The after school options are terrific. The PTA does a lot to support the school. I couldn't be more thrilled with my choice. It's a great learning environment and community.

They helped our foster daughter shine. After all she'd gone through, we couldn't have dreamed of a more supportive and fun environment for her to flourish. Thank you Lafayette Elementary!

-continued- This school also has a wonderful integration program for children with special needs. There are para educators abound and they are a true asset to the classroom beyond being an aid to their assigned student(s). The extra curricular activities are abundant and so many of the students are excited to be involved in them. There are your traditional groups of newspaper, chess and choir, to Discovery Imagination, Lego Club, Amigos Y Juegos, Garden to Table and Fitness Club to only name a few! I cannot express how thankful I am for this school. Lafayette has taken my children and looked at them as individuals, and from there created a learning plan to fit their needs. This is really how 'No Child Left Behind' should be handled. Because if you base learning off of each individuals' needs, indeed, NO child will be left behind.

It's a community of evolving professionals dedicated to the art of teaching and learning. The relatively new principal has brought in high caliber seasoned and enthusiastic teachers, the Gifted and Talented program is being fine-tuned... parents' input is valued... lots of ties to the community.

This is a gem of a school. My husband and I were considering a nearby private school for our children but are so glad that we visited this school at the urging of our neighbor. Our children have tremendous teachers which strong qualifications. Classrooms are lively, yet well managed. The enrichment programs are extensive. The staff does a great job team teaching and communicating with parents. The visual and performing arts are wonderful. That Talented and Gifted program is strong, balanced, and quite extensive. The principal is a fantastic manager. We are quite pleased with the school and understand that is has a long waiting list now (phew, glad we got in under the wire!)

We've been surprised and pleased by the quality of education. For the past five years the school has been on a rapid trajectory upward in test scores, services offered, and community involvement. Lafayette is unique in that it has a very strong 'Character Matters' program, rigorous anti-bullying programs, frequent school assemblies to build community. It does a fabulous job of integrating special needs students into the classroom and as a result has one of the top special needs programs in the Boulder Valley School District. Some of the other highlights at Lafayette include a very strong visual arts program (multiple awards), a strong basic literacy/reading program 'Everyday Readers', award winning Destination Imagination teams, a unique collaboration with the University of Colorado to offer a pre-engineering program after school. My daughter started going to this school Fall of 2006. The is a school that is nurtured by the community/parents and now looks at every individual student to meet his/her needs academically. The principal, teachers and staff are committed and stay on top of the learning curve in order to give students the best education they can. The values and standards that are set for staff and students are high and I would not want my children to attend any other school. After attending 4 other public elemtary schools I can honestly say this is the best school for my children and this is where they will stay until middle school.

We love this school because of the teachers and staff who want to make a difference in our children's education. They are up to date on the latest teaching techniques. The staff welcomes parent involvement.

Lafayette Elementary is a neighborhood school that is in the process of reinventing itself in order to survive in the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD). With the growth in popularity of Charter Schools in the Lafayette area, combined with the fact that BVSD has an 'open enrollment' policy Lafayette Elementary is now exclusively a Core Knowledge school. In previous years the Core Knowledge program was available but was not the only option available. While I believe that moving to this curriculum will benefit the school and its students in the long term, what it has meant for my child is that Core Knowledge is no longer a 'higher tier' curriculum. His classroom now has students who are not yet ready the challenge of the program and overall the education quality of my son's education is lower than it was before. I am hopeful that this situation will right itself eventually.

It is a decent school. There are many different types of kids and I feel it has the potential to be one of the great Elementary Schools in the Denver area. It is a good school academically with average teachers but a good learning environment. There is a decent amount of extracurricular activities and the parent involvement is supurb.
